Missions

We at NLC believe that world missions is the heartbeat of God and is a central part of our ministry. Our church currently supports mission work, both locally and internationally in the following ways:

    •    Financial and spiritual support for local missionaries
    •    Short-term mission teams
    •    Financial aid to support ministers abroad with their vision to preach the gospel
    •    Establishing leaders to assist in church plants

Short-term mission trips introduce new places, cultures and struggles to the local body of Christ. Through supporting and participating with the partner ministries abroad, both young and old alike are able to experience first-hand the joys and challenges of missions work.

Matt & Anna Ross

Matt and Anna Ross are current students at the Spanish Language Institute in San José, Costa Rica. They moved to Costa Rica on January 1, 2017, with plans to spend eight months studying Spanish before transitioning to Granada, Nicaragua, in August where they will join the Nicaragua Serge team. They have made a five-year commitment to serve in Granada. Matt and Anna have a heart for meeting the spiritual and physical needs of those living in extreme poverty. After meeting the team and exploring the ministry opportunities in Granada, Nicaragua, on a trip in July 2015, it became clear to them Granada is where the Lord would have them serve as long-term missionaries. Matt will work with men and teenagers struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, lead discipleship groups, and participate in sports ministry programs. Anna will implement a Community Health Evangelism program at the Granada Christian Education Center (GCEC) and assist with discipleship classes for the children and families of the GCEC.

Uriel and Becky Castrillon along with their four small children left a comfortable life in the United States and moved to the city of Barahona in 1997. They have planted a couple of churches that are reaching out to their communities with the light of God’s Word. DR Mission also provides food and aid to needy families with sponsored children through its Bread of Life feeding centers, and it offers a pre-school program in Cristobal that prepares children to go into Elementary School.

DR Mission’s vision includes planting more churches in other communities, creating sustainable development projects such a Water Purification Plant in the town of Salinas, an agricultural project in Cristobal, and a trade school for High School graduates.

Mission to the Fatherless

nlc_mission_to_fatherless

The goal of Mission to the Fatherless is to rescue orphans and abandoned street children from a life of abuse, disease, starvation or poverty. Life expectancy in Kenya is only 46.4 years. Because of aids, malaria, cholera and other diseases, many have lost their parents. Other children are abandoned when their parents are unwilling or unable to care for them.

Mission to the Fatherless supplies children with a loving home environment, food, education and medical care. They are raised in a family setting centered on moral and spiritual values, helping them to become useful citizens as they grow into adulthood
